I don't take care of it if you broke your computer during overclock!

Overclocking

When you overclock your processor your computer will be faster and temperature heatdicipation will go up. Turning clockrate up bits will go faster true IC-circuits and processor will process faster. Aswell processor L2-Cache will overclock. L2-Cache is usually that "bottle
neck" what will not overclock so well. If you increase a voltage of your processor, temperature can go too up and you processor can broke faster. Processor endure 100°C usually, but its beater to have -273,15°C-60°C (-461,67°F-138°F), 90°C (192°F) (is a bit much, but some processors can be so hot. About. 125°C (258,6°F) processor lifespan will go very critically down. My old  6600GT GPU (graphic processor) was 90°C (192°F) in performance (in full use) when I playd and it's a bit much, but no mater to me. Now I have copper cooler named Zalman VF-900 in my 7900GT and it's <70°C in performance.

Processor/memory overclocking:

You can't overclock packetcomputer easily, because you need BIOS update (Fujitsu siemens, HP, Acer, etc..). When you boot your computer go to BIOS (Basic input/output system) you can get there in boot with pressing key. The key  is usually delete or F4 or something. You can see that key when you boot computer. You can go into "clock/frequenzy control and turn you FSB up, but put only 1-2MHz in one time, because you computer will not start if you overclock too much. If you computer don't boot when you overclock restart BIOS. You can overclock your processor (Intel 2.0GHz maybe to 2.8GHz /1.8GHz and maybe AMD 64 @ 2.4GHz with higher voltage. Opteron is good processor to overclock it maybe can be 1.8GHz @3.2GHz. Lower voltage is always beater (AMD 1,4V-1,8V and Intel 1,3V-1,9V). Voltage can be biger than thoses, but there is no more help to overclocking anymore then. Remember to put memory dividers on, because I doubt it that you memory will overclock so much than you processor. It's good to put DDR400 -> DDR333. Here you have software to overclock your processor, but remember it's your own risk! It's best to overclock from BIOS. Clockgen is not supported on all systems. When I used that when I had s754 it  put to my multiplier to 4x. And my processor did work at FSB 225 x 4 = 900MHz.

Displaycard overclocking

Rivatuner is good to overclocking. Download Rivatuner from internet or from here but remember it's your own risk! (Copyrighted © Alexey Nicolaychuk aka Unwinder) and  install it. Here are images what do you have to do next.

Don't overclock so much that i have overclocked!  You have to

overclock in prosents. try 1MHz overclock first. Then more.

I have overcloked too much. If that happend you have to set lower clocks so much that you don't have bugs anymore.
I have too much clocks in GPU, but memory is ok. 600MHz core (GPU) and memory 1,15GHz.

Voltagemod can help to bugs. I have heard 6600GT clocks at 750MHz core and 1,3GHz memory with voltagemod. But if you have voltagemod it's recommended that you buy a new cooler in your displaycard.
